John N. Young

John N. Young is extremely familiar with California’s transportation and water infrastructure needs. Having served as Legislative Director for two California members on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, John has worked and advocated on numerous transportation issues ranging from the reauthorization of SAFETEA-LU, to aviation, Coast Guard, port security and water policy issues. Most recently he served as Legislative Director for Congresswoman Doris O. Matsui (D) where he was responsible for identifying legislative initiatives and opportunities in the areas of flood protection, water resources and transportation infrastructure investment.

John also served as Legislative Director and Senior Legislative Assistant for Congresswoman Juanita Millender McDonald (D) where he prepared and advised the Congresswoman’s participation on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee on her three subcommittees (Transit and Highway, Aviation & Coast Guard and Maritime). While serving for Millender-McDonald, he created and staffed the House Goods Movement Caucus as well as coordinated projects and policy initiatives for the reauthorization of the surface transportation bill. He brings a strong understanding of the authorization and appropriation process with a unique insight on how it affects California.

John earned a degree in English from Roanoke College in Salem, Virginia.
